Deadly Desires Kink Art was born from a place of near-total collapse that had become Emily’s life. Upon receiving a life-changing diagnosis regarding her health she knew she had to accept her new capabilities and, as someone who never gives up, had to turn these round for the best. As such, Emily re-evaluated which themes and ideas were  important in her life and how she could realistically achieve creating a space to explore and support what was close to her heart whilst using her artistic talent.

Recognising the lack of diversity in the physical representation of people in kink art, she set about exploring themes around sexuality, taboos, projection bias, identity and sexual expression.

She wanted marginalised groups to be able to recognise themselves in her art and to feel represented in a largely homogeneous art field. She also wanted to explore finding beauty not only in the incredible diversity of people but in places where many people only saw ‘flaws’, thereby eliminating the often-internalised shame that repressed the ability to be sexually confident. Emily also wanted to break the idea that kink and fetish only involved latex and leather and in fact could be explored in so many other less-obtuse ways.

Emily’s art focusses on Shibari and rope play in a titillating but non-explicit way, which is accessible and identifiable but also fun. She loves collaborating with people from all over the world who share the same vision for diversity and inclusivity.

Our Team

Emily

Artist and Founder

The ‘imaginator’ and talent behind Deadly Desires, Emily graduated with a BA Hons in Fashion and Costume in 2010 – which she put to good use working in a bookstore and becoming a horse riding instructor! With a natural talent for art and anything creative, she now runs her art studio from her London home which she shares with her husband and 5 cats. Her dream is for her and her husband to one day live in the countryside with Nikki and her partner, all of the cats and several horses. Constantly recognised for her vampiric appearance, she has been known to frighten many a small child in the street!

Nikki

Company Coordinator and Fixer of Everything

Nikki graduated with a BA Hons in English Literature and Film, followed by a PGCE in Primary Teaching – which is why she enjoys creating fun and informative social media and newsletters! With the patience of a saint and the ability to organise a herd of cats into colour groups, she files all of Emily’s nonsense into manageable chunks and runs the business. Currently building her own house with her partner (literally by hand) she has spent the last two years living in a shed, a loft, on sofas and in tents, but has prioritised her life by building a bar in the garden first!
